Medallion Entries that members donated to FALCC Fundraiser

The Fine Arts League members participated in a project in clay led by Virginia Bethke. The members were to create medallions for prizes in the coming FALCC Membership Show in October for the Fiesta de la Paloma. The 23 creations were then judged by master potter, Jane Padgitt. The members completing the clay project were: Missy Adian, Virginia Bethke, Robin Black, Sharon Dick, Sherrell Hazlewood, Marian Johnson, Heather Langley, Lois McCarty, Bob Murchison, Bitsy Murchison, Theda Rhea, Bill Shields, Dollie Sparkman, Melody Thames, Tammy Jo Turner, Linda Wright, Nate Thomas (creation did not come through the firing!)
The Best of Show was created by Kay Mitchell in glass. 1st Place was a Texas Blue Bunny bySherrell Hazlewood; 2nd went to Virginia Bethke, “Sombrero”; 3rd Lois McCarty “Star”; honorable mentions were given to Bill Shields “Dove”; Tammy Jo Turner “Horse”; Robin Black “Cow”; People’s Choice Sharon Dick “Star”.
The project was enjoyed by all and many thanks to Virginia Bethke for getting the materials and leading the class; to Theda Rhea for keeping up with the pieces through the finishing process and firings;Kay Mitchell for the location to spread out the medallions to be judged; Jane for her expertise in the artistic use of clay. What’s next?
