The Texas Blue Bunny Shop Hop

by Linda Hyde

TThe Coleman Business People’s Association (CBPA) is continuing to encourage our citizens to shop locally during the upcoming holiday season. In order to promote local businesses, we’ve developed a fun program called The Texas Blue Bunny Shop Hop.

A big Thanks! to Sherrell Hazlewood for allowing CBPA to use his artistic icon, The Texas Blue Bunny, as our identifiable logo for this effort.

Although there is no obligation for Shoppers to buy anything from the participating businesses, this Program will acquaint Shoppers with area merchant locations and products, and hopefully encourage Christmas purchases in local stores.

Object of the Game: Participating Shoppers are required to purchase a Texas Blue Bunny Shop Hop Map for $1 at any of the participating stores. Shoppers are encouraged to visit every participating business location within the timeframe between Nov.25 and Dec.17. When Shoppers visit the store locations, a staff member will mark the Texas Blue Bunny Shop Hop Map with an approved stamp provided by the CBPA.

When a map is stamped for every store location, the completed map is returned to a designated business location (also listed on the map) for inclusion in a random drawing for a 50” Panasonic TV from Alco, a digital camera from Radio Shack, a gift certificate at The Shoppin’ Baskit, and many more special prizes, too numerous to list here. (Please Note: The TV and camera can be redeemed for the purchase value towards other merchandise.)

Here’s an opportunity to learn more about your community by visiting businesses you may not have been in before and to enhance your Christmas experience.

Participating businesses where the
Texas Blue Bunny Shop Hop Maps can be purchased, and where you can get your maps stamped are:

Alco, Bling & Swing, Block One Market, Christian Book Store, Coleman Video, Commercial Antiques Mall, Cooper Supply, Countryside Satellite & Computer Care, Countywide Insurance, Coleman Gifts, Crafts, & Computer Service (previously known as Crochet by Fina), D&R Automotive, Diamond “W” Western World, Edward Jones, Drew Hubbard Insurance, Garner’s Nursery, Grammer’s, Henderson’s Funeral Home, Hidalgo’s Restaurant, Higginbotham’s, Holiday Hill Nursing Home, Humane Society Thrift Store, J&L Storage, JF Woodworking & Knives, Kay’s Garden, Merle Norman Cosmetics, Mid-Tex Cellular, O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, Owl Drug, Petal Patch Florist, Saveway Liquor Store, Screen Art Graphics, Earle Smith Jewelers, Something Special Tobacco Shop, Texas Gun Parts, The Corral Restaurant, Tiffany’s Restaurant, Triple T Liquor Store, Tyson’s Pharmacy, Williams Tire Store, Wise X-Press Dry Cleaners.

The Program continues for three weeks which allows adequate time to visit all the locations. Hurry out to pick up your
Texas Blue Bunny Shop Hop Map right away as each of the 40 Merchants have a limited supply.

Start collecting those stamps, and browse through the Participating Businesses for this year’s Christmas gifts. It’s possible, it’s prudent, to keep our cash in Coleman.

Believe it, Live it, Love it ---- Coleman!
