YOUTH ART SHOW – LIBRARY FEB. 3 - 13th, 2009
Off and running – the First Annual Youth Art Show (YAS) sponsored by the Fine Arts League of Coleman and the Coleman Public Library. Due to the “change” in the Fiesta Art Show (open) to a juried show in October, the Fine Arts League of Coleman County decided to sponsor the Youth with their own show. Hopefully, it will be a growing annual event .
The exhibit is up and has been judged by by Brownwood Artist of the Year 2008
Ted Shelton and Martha Shelton. Ted and Martha are also FALCC members. It was difficult to tell who was the most excited about the new art venture – the Youth bringing in art work or the FALCC Community Projects Chairs, Robin Black and CISD art teacher, Danna Dawson. The show ran from Feb. 3, through Feb. 13, 2009 during regular hours at the Library.
47 students presented a total of 61 pieces of artwork to be entered – in various media including mosaics, wood, pastel, graphite, watercolor, paper sculpture, colored pencil, acrylics and oil pastels.
The awards ceremony was February 5. The Fine Arts League continues todedicate its efforts to the arts through the youth.
