Jane Padgitt demos her pottery skills befor an approving audience

Jane Padgitt, Coleman County potter, is a fifth generation Texas rancher, Jane loved clay from the beginning, squishing mud between her toes in the Colorado River near Leaday, Texas, which led her into a lifelong career in pottery and love of the land. For thirty years Jane has managed her family ranch in Southwest Coleman County.
Jane received a BFA in Ceramics and Education from the University of Texas, Austin.
Jane often has guest craftsmen sharing her studio, making and glazing pottery and firing kilns. She says this sense of community, coupled with nature walks through Paint Rock’s pictographs and up through Rattlesnake Bluff on the Padgitt Ranch, have brought her renewed creative energies. All of this can be seen in her creations.
