Spring means -------

With the coming of Spring, most folks think about how beautiful our County Landscape is, how much we need rain, etc. However, in addition to the usual Spring Fever symptoms, the Fine Arts League of Coleman County members begin to feel the stirrings to start another Art Season. The 2010 Fiesta Juried Show plans were actually started when the 2009 show closed and continues as the Committees are formed and the fine-tuning that must be done to make the show come out as spectacularly as in 2007, 2008, 2009 (Juried Shows) (This will be Show number 20 for the FALCC).

The League feels that the show is not about the league or its members. The League’s mission statement states that the real purpose of all the work, planning and execution is for the benefit of all – to enhance our awareness of all that is good and beautiful in our world and share it through the arts and their creation. This applies to young and not so young alike. Everyone can be joyfully involved at some level.

2010 Calendar includes the 2nd Fine Arts League Membership Show at the Library in July, Bill Shields, Chairman. There is an opportunity to experience a juried show in Breckenridge, July 3 deadline; and a show in San Angelo, entry June 2. October 1 & 2 the 20th Fiesta de la Paloma Fine Art Show will be in full swing. Digital entry deadline for the October show is August 3.

            The last meeting before the summer break is May 20, 6:00 pm at the First Coleman National Bank Club room. A board meeting at 5:00 will precede the general membership meeting. Much of the planning will be discussed for the up-coming events – Be There!
A Potluck dinner is planned. The Program will be a presentation by Sherrell Hazlewood on taking digital photographs and burning them to CD’s to be used in Juried Show entries.   Take photos of your paintings and be ready to enter some of these events.
