FALCC Members & Guests Enjoy Painting Demo
by Theda Rhea with Model Tammy Jo Turner
March 19, 2009

The Fine Arts League of Coleman County hosted a demonstration by local Artist, Theda Rhea, Thursday March 19, 2009 in the First Coleman National Bank Club Room .
Theda is a well-known pastel artist, but also works in oils and other media. She painted a portrait in pastels from her model, Tammy Jo Turner, at the March meeting. This was a treat to see the image come to life under Theda’s talented hand.
17 members and 3 guests enjoyed watching artist, Theda Rhea, do a pastel painting of her model. Tammy’s naturalness and her quick smile make her a favorite model. While Theda was creating, the rest of the crowd watched, “oohed and aahed” and grazed on the fabulous faire provided by Bob and Bitsy Murchison.
After the painting session, a short business meeting concluded the evening. Discussions included the membership show being chaired and planned for July by Bill and Sue Shields, fund raiser for the Fiesta Juried Art Show; April meeting planned and executed by Dollie Sparkman; fun, food, and hats by Robin Black for the May meeting with Lois McCarty presenting a ‘hands-on’ art project. Another Kidz Art Show is on the drawing board for next year.
Sharon Dick, a Fine Arts League member from Bangs, will be giving a demonstration for the Comanche art group in April.
Members present in addition to those mentioned above include: Sherrell Hazlewood, President of the League, Ted & Martha Shelton (Brownwood), Kay Mitchell, Linda Wright, Sheila Nicholas. Pat Slate, Danna Dawson, Marian Johnson. Guests present from Denton were Marcy and Jim Nicholas, Janet Chastain, Santa Anna.
You don’t have to paint to join this group – just have an interest in the arts and a pair of willing hands and show up!!
